Do I need planning permission for a new block paving driveway?
In most cases, no. If the new driveway uses permeable block paving or directs rainwater to a lawn or border to drain naturally within your property boundary, you do not need planning permission. We ensure all our installations comply with current SUDS (Sustainable Drainage Systems) regulations.
How do you stop the block paving from sinking?
Sinking occurs when groundwork is rushed or incorrect. We excavate to the proper depth, install a heavy-duty weed membrane, and lay a deep layer of MOT Type 1 aggregate. This is then heavily compacted using industrial wacker plates before a screeded sand laying course is applied. This rigorous process guarantees structural integrity.
Will weeds grow through my new block paving?
Weeds do not grow from underneath a properly installed driveway due to the deep sub-base and weed membranes. However, airborne seeds can occasionally settle in the sand joints from above. We use premium kiln-dried sand and offer sealing options to significantly minimize joint weed growth, keeping your driveway looking pristine.
